Honorary Ambassador for Life to the United Nations, Permanent Representative of El Salvador to the United Nations in New York, served as Vice-Chair of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2014, and consecutively as Vice-Chair for the 56th, 57th, and 58th sessions of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). He also held the position of Vice-Chair for the 51st and 52nd sessions of the Commission for Social Development and was Vice-Chair of the Executive Board of UNDP-UNFPA-UNOPS in 2011. Additionally, he was Vice-Chair for the 64th session of the Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee) of the General Assembly and Rapporteur for the joint field visit of the Executive Boards of the United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Population Fund, United Nations Children’s Fund, and the World Food Programme to Azerbaijan and Guatemala.
