Eddie Chen

Eddie Chen's career spans multiple fields and functions, from private equity investors and IT executives to senior government officials and diplomats. He has rich international experience and has held overseas positions in the United Nations, Sweden, France, USA and China.
Since 2013, Mr. Chen serves as a Senior Partner of Eurazeo Group and Head of China/Asia. Eurazeo is a leading French private equity company (€31b AUM) with a history of 140 years. He has established Eurazeo China Office covering Greater China, East and Southeast Asia, with a strategic focus on cross-border investment and M&A between Europe / North America and China / Asia. Under his leadership, Eurazeo has successfully established a broad recognition as a cross-border private equity specialist in China, has profound expertise in China's value creation, and has successfully completed more than 20 cross-border M&A transactions.
In 2019, on behalf of Eurazeo, formed partnership with China Investment Corporation and BNP Paribas to set up a France-China Cooperation Fund (€1b AUM) and served as a Senior Partner and IC member. Together with Eurazeo, the Fund invests in high growth industries in France and European countries and supports them in deploying their China strategy. This is the first such bilateral fund between France and China, which was signed in the presence of the President of China and the President of France.
From 2002 to 2012, Mr. Chen served as Vice President of Invest Sweden Agency (a Swedish government agency) and Chief Representative of China. He was the first internationally appointed senior official in the Swedish government system. He has initiated and participated in more than 200 bilateral investment transactions and projects, including Geely's acquisition of Volvo in 2010 - a symbol of investment between Sweden and China.
Prior to the Swedish job, Mr. Chen served as Chief of the Information Technology Group at the UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (UNDP) in New York, leading UNDP's global IT strategy and operations, including 150 country offices (UNDP has over 6000 employees). In this position, he also provides advice and guidance to many transcontinental developing countries on technology transfer and the implementation of national IT projects at the strategic level. His creative work and contribution to the reform of the United Nations were recognized by the 1997 United Nations CIO summit.
